A new Telesperience research on the impact of data misalignments and how these affect both communications service providers (CSPs) and their customers
Research Synopsis
Research carried out in April this year by Telesperience, the independent telecoms and IT analyst company, quantifies the extent of the problems caused by OSS/BSS data misalignment for CSPs and their customers.
Data misalignment has long been recognized as a chronic problem for CSPs running large OSS/BSS infrastructure and can be defined to mean: "A situation where data is not available to software solutions that need it in a timely fashion (for example, is missing), or else is incorrect or duplicated - all of which affect the performance of the software solution".
Highlights of the research clearly shows:
Data misalignment kills CSP efficiency
- 96% of CSPs surveyed suffer operational or financial impacts from misaligned data.
Customer experience and service management suffer
- 75% find that data misalignment damages their customers' experience.
Revenue leaks are a direct result
- 75% need to align their data to improve billing accuracy.
Most significantly, 0% of the CSPs surveyed have solved the data misalignment problem: 42% saying it's too expensive, and over 50% saying it's too complex and they can't find effective tools.
